Sai is a Sophomore at Oshima High, and 16 years old (birthday 31st August, making him one of the older people in his year). He doesn't seem to actually interact with many people from his grade, actually the only other Sophomore he seems to have really struck any sort of relationship with is Tobi. For the few people in the school he actually does talk with, they're usually older than him.

It is well, well known in Oshima that Sai is a complete whore sexually active. Having lost his virginity at fourteen, he found that sleeping around became an enjoyable habit. In fact, so much so, that occasionally when he really needed money he will work in well... less legal types of jobs. Usually as a phone sex operator, but he has been whored out on occasion (though, that part of the job he's recently quit). But mainly he does have a legal job, at Oshima's art museum.

He lost his parents when he was very young, and a non-blood relative, an older boy who actually went to Oshima High himself (he majored in Theatre) became his guardian, stopping social services from taking him in to foster care. Unfortunately his brother died suddenly when he was seven years old, in a gang related incident. At the time, Sai was working on a small comic book that his brother told him was really good and to never give up making. He never finished it when he realised his brother was dead.

Sai was then taken into foster care, shipped from house to house. He enrolled at Oshima High because his current family lived near it. Once shipped to a new house (on the other side of the island) he was almost taken out of it, but the family decided in the end to leave him there because of the reputation for Art and his talent.

His most memorable foster family was the one when he turned fourteen. Because of his taste in clothes (belly tops and so on, a memento to his big brother) the father constantly accused him of being a whore and sleeping around. Eventually he got so fed up of being accused of something he hadn't done that he went out and did it. And became addicted.

As soon as he turned sixteen he managed to talk himself out of the social services' foster program by aquiring a job (or two) and (a very shitty) apartment (near the red light district). He agreed to let them meet him once a month to see how he was and monitor whether he needs a foster family again. He frequently lacks money, mainly because he spends too much on clothes and art supplies, and this is probably why he has such a damned cheap apartment. (Though now, his apartment is kind of a moot point, thanks to the boyfriend >>;).

Mostly emotionless, Sai usually reacts to things with a shrug and an "I don't care". Any emotions he does experience are usually mild and controlled. When he does let people see emotions it is usually because it benefits him, though not always. He enjoys pissing people off and finds it funny to do so, unless it backfires on him. He rarely, if ever, wears the actual school uniform, though he's beginning to try and do so. He tends to get irritated at his neighbours who make a habit of playing disco and general cheese-filled music very loudly, often shaking his apartment's walls. He can feel playful, but those moods are few and far between and tend to make him act rather childish. Well, if the child was a 16 year old boy led by hormones.

He is mainly a 'hands-on' person, explaining his preferences for practical lessons, such as Art and experiments in Science. He'd probably enjoy Culinary too if he ever turned up for the lessons. He tends not to have the best reputation for theory work, though he's by no means stupid, it just doesn't interest him as much as practical work does. He has a slight soft spot for psychology, mainly because he finds human emotions very curious things.

Usually when he does art, he will either do it while experiencing nothing, as is commonplace when he's in a lesson, or while experiencing emotions, which tends to happen when he lets his inspiration get the better of him. When he's in the latter stage, he's very distracted and probably won't listen to a thing anyone says, and shows the most of himself.
